THE SCIENCE BEHIND BIRCH WOOD
Not all wood is created equal when it comes to nicotine delivery. We chose birch for a set of specific, functional reasons — not just because it makes a good toothpick.
CONSISTENT POROSITY
Birch wood has a fine, even grain structure with consistent porosity. This means it absorbs the nicotine solution uniformly during the infusion process and releases it at a predictable rate as you chew.
Woods with irregular grain patterns would deliver nicotine unevenly — too much in one bite, too little in the next. Birch avoids that problem entirely.
FOOD-GRADE SAFETY
Birch is a food-contact-safe material with a long history of use in food-grade applications, from popsicle sticks to tongue depressors to traditional toothpicks.
It has a neutral taste that does not overpower the flavorings we add, which is critical for delivering clean Cinnamon, Mint, and Tropical flavor profiles.
THE CHEWING EXPERIENCE
Birch softens gradually with moisture from your mouth, which makes for a comfortable chewing experience over the 20 to 40 minute lifespan of each toothpick.
It does not splinter the way softer woods would, and it does not stay rigid the way hardwoods would. It hits the sweet spot between durability and comfort.
Every TWIGZ toothpick is made from 100% birch wood — sustainably sourced, food-safe, and biodegradable.
